Custom signage stickers are usually sold loose, so they can be easily handled and applied individually. Applying your self-adhesive signage product is easy, but you do need to make sure the surface is prepped.

The easiest way to apply an adhesive sign is to peel back the lining sheet at the top to reveal the adhesive layer. You can then stick this in position and make sure it's central and straight in the position you want. Simply then remove the rest of the liner and slowly press the rest of the sticker down, working your way down from top to bottom being careful to remove any air bubbles as you go.

Self-adhesive signs are basically large format stickers that can be used to create temporary, semi-permanent or permanent signs. Self-adhesive signs can also be referred to as sticky signs or if for a specific application such as applying to a window or wall, could be called window stickers or wall stickers.

The difference between a sticker and a sign is usually the size. Stickers are usually for fun, giveaways or decoration and are often a smaller size than stickers used for signage.

When using stickers to create a window sticker, wall sticker, car windows sticker or anything else, you will most likely want it printed on a larger format, most likely larger than A4 size.

Due to the size, it will likely need to be printed on a specialist wide format printer. So essentially a self-adhesive sign is a large sticker, but the use and application is slightly different.

A good personalised sign is when a good design, is matched to a good material suiting the application perfectly. 

For example, if you want to create a sign with opening hours for a shop and it is being mounted inside the window, you will likely want a clear material that looks transparent when applied, so the writing is legible but light is not restricted.

If your application is a wall sticker to decorate a bedroom wall, you will likely want a material with low-tack adhesive, meaning it will stay stuck, but can be removed easily minimising the risk of damaging the wall surface.

For signage outside, you will want a material offering UV protection, protecting the print from the sun and a material that is waterproof and resistant to dirt.

In summary, the basis for a good sign is really understanding the use and finding the best material, after that it's simply a case of adding your design!
